THE HISTORY OF NAU
NAU is a national key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Renowned for its strengths in agriculture and life sciences, NAU was originally created by the merger of the agricultural faculties of Jinling University and the National Central University. Today, it is a research-orientated, multi-disciplinary institution, with colleges covering agriculture, science, economics, management, engineering, arts and law.
CAMPUS AND FACILITIES
A beautiful city with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent amenities, Nanjing is an ideal location for living and learning. The main NAU campus is located at the foot of Zhongshan Mountain, which is said to resemble a dragon curling in the eastern suburb of Nanjing, while the Stone City in the west takes the shape of a crouching tiger.
The campus is over 9sq km in size, and construction is ongoing to develop its facilities further. Its library holds over two million books and other reference materials, including an extensive collection of Chinese ebooks and foreign periodicals. The teaching facilities and accommodation blend the old and the new, all complemented by the picturesque scenery of Nanjing.
EXPERTISE AND RESEARCH
A pioneering and progressive establishment, NAU is committed to research. As a member of the ‘Project 211’ program, NAU works alongside a range of other institutions to raise research standards across China. It also draws funding for research and facilities through the Innovation Platforms for Outstanding Disciplines facet of the ‘985 Excellence Initiative Project’.
Our academics are actively encouraged to add their individual research interests to the University’s traditional strengths and areas of expertise.
